As a consultant I originally began working with Hydro Galaxy team by helping them figure out their online strategy; picking the right CMS and CRM systems, order processing and inventory management. We settled on an all in one solution provided by BigCommerce, after going through an extensive evaluation process. The key points for them was ease of use since most of the staff, including the owners were not tech savvy. My recommendation for BigCommerce was based on expandability of the platform and the support they provided for third party services. We were able to set them up within days, instead of months and while the staff was busy loading the inventory database into the system, I was able to focus on the design, UX, SEO and internal as well as third party configurations.

With over 50,000 items in inventory, it was critical that loading inventory and then making adjustments was done easily and with the help of CVS files, I was able to set up Hydro Galaxy on a path to success. I sought out third party designers and we worked off of my wires and later skeleton BigCommerce templates to start designing the look and feel the owners were looking to execute. Keeping in mind the UX standards I proposed, we were able to go live within days which allowed me to very quickly gain the owners trust and convert to contract position which I held for lose to a year. During that period we optimized the storefront to go from $30,000/month to $300,000 in sales and integrated eBay and Amazon synchronized storefronts with a single point of inventory control withe their two retail locations. Additionally, I was able to set up and successfully deploy a CRM process and sales driven chat widgets which helped answer customer questions and engage with live visitors to increase conversations. Finally, we created a shipping process and warehouse inventory management system which allowed for real-time order management and shipping updates for their customers.
